Anderson Reflects on International Retirement
Former England International Opens Up on Decision to Step Away
Retiring from international football is never an easy decision, and for former England international Kieran Anderson, it was no different.
Anderson, who earned 10 caps for his country, announced his retirement from international football in March 2023, at the age of 29.
In a recent interview, Anderson opened up about his decision to step away from the international stage.
"It was a tough decision," he admitted, "but ultimately, it was the right one for me and my family."
Anderson made his international debut in 2017 and quickly established himself as a regular in the England team.
He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and he also played in the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
However, in recent years, Anderson has struggled with injuries, and he has not played for England since 2021.
"I've had some great experiences with England," he said, "but I feel like it's time for me to move on."
"I'm still playing at a good level for my club, and I'm excited to focus on that for the next few years."
Anderson's retirement comes at a time when England are rebuilding their team following a disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.
However, he believes that the future is bright for the Three Lions.
"We have some talented young players coming through," he said, "and I'm sure they will be successful in the years to come."
