Army Veteran To Honor Fallen Soldiers Over Veteran's Day Weekend

Local Army veteran plans to honor fallen soldiers in a unique way.

An Army veteran from New York is planning to honor fallen soldiers over Veteran's Day weekend by walking 26.2 miles in their memory.

The walk will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, and will start at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and end at Arlington National Cemetery.

The veteran, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he was inspired to do the walk after learning about the many soldiers who have died in recent years.

"I wanted to do something to honor their sacrifice and to show my support for their families," he said.

The veteran has been training for the walk for several months and said he is confident he will be able to complete it.

"I know it's going to be a challenge, but I'm determined to do it," he said. "These soldiers deserve to be remembered and honored."
