The affected product was distributed to Costco stores in 14 states, including California, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and New Mexico.

The recalled product comes in a 24-ounce package with a "best by" date of October 15, 2023 or later. The recalled butter is packaged in a white, plastic tub with a blue lid and the words "Kirkland Signature" printed on the front.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, and newborns.
