Dave Smart Launches New Era of Pacific Basketball Monday vs Jessup

The Dave Smart era of Pacific men’s basketball tips off Monday, Nov. 7 at Alex G. Spanos Center when the Tigers host William Jessup University in an exhibition game at 7 p.m.Smart, who was hired as Pacific’s 21st head men’s basketball coach on March 22, 2022, has spent the past seven months assembling his staff and roster for the 2022-23 season, which officially begins on Monday, Nov. 7 at home against the Warriors.
The Tigers return eight letterwinners – Luke Avdalovic, Jeremiah Bailey, Tyler Beard, Keylan Boone, Jordan Ivy-Curry, Cam Denson, Nick Blake and Sam Freeman – and added eight newcomers to the roster.
Pacific was picked to finish ninth in the 10-team West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll with 45 points. Gonzaga was picked to win the league with 94 points and nine first-place votes.
After Monday’s exhibition game against William Jessup, the Tigers host Menlo College in another exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. before officially opening the regular season on Monday, Nov. 14 when they host Northern Arizona at 7 p.m.
