Destiny Adams Earns Women's Basketball Big Ten Player of the Week
Adams led the Badgers to two Big Ten victories by averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game.
Destiny Adams, a sophomore forward for the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team, has been named Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office. It is the first conference weekly honor of Adams' career.
Adams led the Badgers to a pair of home victories last week, averaging 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She opened the week with a 22-point, 11-rebound performance as the Badgers defeated Ohio State, 71-66. She followed up that outing with an efficient 19-point, 12-rebound game, hitting 9-of-14 shots from the field as UW downed No. 24 Illinois, 79-67.
Adams played a key role in both wins, providing a spark offensively and on the boards.
In the win over the Buckeyes, Adams scored back-to-back baskets to give Wisconsin an early lead and later made a key jumper to put the Badgers up for good in the final minutes. Her rebound was also key, helping the Badgers control the paint and limit Ohio State's second-chance opportunities.
Against No. 24 Illinois, Adams scored the game's first five points and hit a jumper early in the fourth quarter to extend Wisconsin's lead to 10. She also had eight rebounds in the second half, helping the Badgers hold Illinois to 33.3 percent shooting after halftime.
Adams is a dynamic player who can score inside and out.
She is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game, and leads the Badgers with 8.1 rebounds per contest. She has also hit 42.1 percent of her 3-point attempts this season. Adams' versatility allows her to impact the game in a variety of ways, making her a valuable asset for the Badgers.
Adams and the Badgers will look to continue their winning ways as they take on Michigan State on the road on Thursday.
