Flight Attendant Injured as Spirit Airlines Plane Struck by Gunfire
Chaos on Board as Plane Makes Emergency Landing
Attendant's Condition Stable, Investigation Underway
A Spirit Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Tampa was forced to make an emergency landing in New Orleans on Tuesday night after being struck by gunfire. A flight attendant was injured in the incident, but their condition is now stable.
The plane was flying at an altitude of 31,000 feet when it was hit by a single bullet. The bullet shattered a window and struck the flight attendant in the shoulder. The flight crew immediately declared an emergency and diverted the plane to New Orleans.
The injured flight attendant was taken to a local hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries. The other passengers and crew members were not injured.
The FBI is investigating the incident. They are looking into the possibility that the plane was shot at from the ground. No arrests have been made at this time.
Spirit Airlines released a statement saying that they are "deeply concerned" about the incident and are cooperating with the investigation. The airline also said that they are providing support to the injured flight attendant and the other passengers and crew members.
This is the second time in recent months that a Spirit Airlines plane has been struck by gunfire. In April, a Spirit Airlines plane was hit by a bullet while landing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. No one was injured in that incident.
