Good Morning, Illini Nation: UPDATE - Illinois not ranked
The latest update showed the Illini falling out of the Top 25 altogether.
No. 25 Illinois tumbled out of the Coaches Poll entirely in the latest rankings released Monday, marking the first time all season the Illini did not receive a vote in the poll.
Illinois (16-7, 8-5 Big Ten) fell out of the Associated Press Poll last week after its 80-68 home loss to No. 17 Indiana on Thursday. The Illini had been ranked as high as No. 11 earlier this season.
Despite the setback, Illinois' NCAA Tournament hopes are still alive.
The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee unveiled its first top 16 seeds on Saturday, and the Illini were among the first four teams out. However, Illinois still has a chance to improve its NCAA Tournament resume with a strong finish to the regular season and a good showing in the Big Ten Tournament.
The Illini have three more regular season games remaining, starting with a road game at Nebraska on Tuesday. They then host No. 1 Purdue on Saturday before closing out the regular season at Northwestern on March 4.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held in Chicago from March 8-12. Illinois is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will open play against either No. 12 seed Penn State or No. 13 seed Minnesota.
