Historic Carson City Mint Scale to Be Auctioned in Reno
A piece of Nevada history is going up for auction.
A historic scale used at the Carson City Mint will be auctioned off in Reno next month. The scale was used to weigh precious metals during the mint’s operation from 1870 to 1893.
The scale is one of only a few known to exist.
It is made of brass and has a capacity of 1,000 troy ounces. The scale is in good condition and is expected to fetch a high price at auction.
The auction will be held on March 8th at the Reno Coin Gallery.
The scale is one of several historic items that will be auctioned off. Other items include coins, medals, and mining equipment. The auction will begin at 10:00 AM.
