Warner to promote Australia as a tourism destination to Indian travellers
Australian cricketer David Warner has been announced as the new Tourism Australia Ambassador to India.
Warner, who is a popular figure in India thanks to his success in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will be responsible for promoting Australia as a tourism destination to Indian travellers.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, where Warner said he was "honoured" to be appointed as the Tourism Australia Ambassador.
"I have always loved coming to India and I am excited to share my experiences with Indian travellers," Warner said.
"Australia has so much to offer, from its stunning natural beauty to its vibrant cities and world-class food and wine.
I can't wait to help promote Australia as a tourism destination to Indian travellers."
Tourism Australia Managing Director Phillipa Harrison said Warner was the "perfect person" to represent Australia in India.
"David is a highly respected and popular figure in India, and his passion for Australia is infectious," Harrison said.
"We are confident that he will be a great ambassador for Tourism Australia and will help us to attract more Indian travellers to Australia."
