'It's what we do': Murrells Inlet neighborhood places 1,500 flags ahead of Veterans Day
Every year, volunteers place 1,500 flags throughout their neighborhood to honor veterans.
The flags are placed in yards, along sidewalks, and even on boats.
The tradition started in 2002, when a group of neighbors decided to place 100 flags in their yards. The following year, they placed 200 flags, and the number has grown each year since.
The flags are placed on the Saturday before Veterans Day. Volunteers work together to place the flags, and they often have to work around obstacles like trees and power lines.
The flags are a powerful reminder of the sacrifices that veterans have made for our country. They are a way to show our appreciation for their service, and to let them know that we will never forget them.
