John Hopkins Draws Southern Maine in NCAA Opener
Blue Jays Earn Top Seed in Region
The No. 1-seeded Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team will open the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, May 14, against eighth-seeded Southern Maine at Homewood Field (1 p.m.). The Blue Jays earned the top seed in the North Region after posting a 12-2 record during the regular season.
Battling Huskies
Southern Maine will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 13 years after winning the Little East Conference Championship. The Huskies finished the season with a 13-5 record, including a 7-1 mark in conference play.
Recent Records
Johns Hopkins has won both of its previous meetings with Southern Maine, including a 16-8 victory in Baltimore in 2010. The Blue Jays are 4-0 all-time against the Huskies.
Tournament Outlook
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, May 22, at a site to be determined. The semifinals and final will be held at Hofstra University on May 28-29.
