Jordan Whittington News: Gets Back to Full Practice Thursday

Big 12 Receiver was out for three weeks with a clavicle injury

Texas wide receiver Jordan Whittington will make a full return to practice Thursday, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced at his weekly press conference Monday. Whittington has been out since suffering a clavicle injury in the Longhorns' season-opening loss to Arkansas. The injury required surgery, and he missed the next three games.

Now that he's set to return to practice, there's no guarantee Whittington will play in the Longhorns' upcoming game against Iowa State. Sarkisian said that Whittington will be "day-to-day" and that the team will see how he does in practice this week. Whittington's return would be a big boost for the Longhorns, who have struggled to produce offensively in his absence.

He was a preseason All-American and one of the most productive receivers in the Big 12

Whittington was named a preseason All-American by several outlets going into the 2022 season. In 2021, he had 66 receptions for 791 yards and seven touchdowns. He also rushed the football for 68 yards and a touchdown. Whittington has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the Big 12 since his freshman season, when he had 51 receptions for 686 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Longhorns are hoping that Whittington can return to his old form this season and be a major contributor to the offense. He is a dynamic playmaker who can stretch the field vertically and make big plays over the middle. With Whittington back in the lineup, the Longhorns' offense has the potential to be one of the most potent in the Big 12.
