Kern County Celebrates Veterans with Annual Parade

Honoring Those Who Served

The annual Veterans Day Parade in Kern County is a time-honored tradition that brings the community together to honor those who have served our country. This year's parade will be held on November 11, 2023, and will feature a variety of floats, marching bands, and veterans' organizations.

The parade will begin at 11:00 AM at the intersection of Truxtun Avenue and Oak Street in downtown Bakersfield. It will proceed west on Truxtun Avenue to Chester Avenue, then north on Chester Avenue to 24th Street. The parade will end at the Kern County Fairgrounds.

This year's parade will be led by the Grand Marshal, retired Army Colonel David Sutherland. Colonel Sutherland served in the military for over 30 years, including two tours of duty in Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service.

Showing Appreciation and Support

The Veterans Day Parade is a wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation and support for our veterans. It is a chance to thank them for their service and to let them know that we will never forget their sacrifice.

If you are unable to attend the parade, you can still show your support by donating to a veterans' organization or by volunteering your time at a local VA hospital.
