Local Schools Honoring Veterans Day
Schools Plan Special Events and Activities
Local schools are planning special events and activities to honor Veterans Day on Friday, November 11. Veterans Day is a federal holiday that honors all those who have served in the military.
At West Elementary, students will be making cards and writing letters to veterans. They will also be learning about the history of Veterans Day and the importance of honoring those who have served.
East Middle School will be hosting a Veterans Day assembly. The assembly will feature guest speakers from the local VFW and American Legion. Students will also be performing patriotic songs and reading poems.
High School Students to Volunteer at VA Hospital
High school students will be volunteering at the local VA hospital on Veterans Day. Students will be helping with a variety of tasks, such as visiting with veterans, playing games, and serving meals.
The VA hospital is a great place for students to learn about the sacrifices that veterans have made. Students will also be able to make a difference in the lives of veterans by volunteering their time.
Community Invited to Attend Events
The community is invited to attend any of the Veterans Day events that are being held at local schools. These events are a great way to show our appreciation for veterans and to learn more about the history of Veterans Day.
