Thousands Gather for Patriotic Event
Town Comes Together to Honor Service Members
On Saturday, November 5th, the town of Smithville came together to honor its veterans at the annual Veteran’s Day parade. The parade featured floats, marching bands, and veterans from all branches of the military. Thousands of people lined the streets to show their support for the men and women who have served our country.
The parade began at 10:00 AM and lasted for over two hours. The parade route started at the town square and ended at the town park. Along the way, the parade passed by many of Smithville’s landmarks, including the courthouse, the library, and the high school.
The parade featured a variety of floats, including floats from local businesses, schools, and veteran’s organizations. Many of the floats were decorated with patriotic themes, such as the American flag and the bald eagle. Some of the floats also featured veterans riding in them.
The parade also featured several marching bands, including the Smithville High School marching band and the Smithville Community Band. The marching bands played a variety of patriotic songs, including “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America.”
The parade was a great success, and it was a wonderful way to honor our veterans. The parade showed that Smithville is a town that is proud of its veterans and that is grateful for their service.
In addition to the parade, there were also several other events held in Smithville on Veteran’s Day. These events included a ceremony at the town park, a luncheon for veterans, and a dance at the American Legion Hall.
Veteran’s Day is a day to honor all of the men and women who have served our country. It is a day to thank them for their service and to let them know that we are grateful for their sacrifice.
