Green energy

With the completion of its latest Ohio solar farms, Marathon Digital Holdings, Inc., one of the leading enterprises in cryptocurrency mining in North America, has increased its operating capacity by roughly 372 megawatts (MW), bringing its total capacity to about 1.1 gigawatt (GW).

The majority of the additions are attributable to the installation of 306 MW across four different sites in Butler and Mercer counties. The remaining capacity, which is 66 MW, comes from the completion of an expansion at MARA's facility in New Springfield, Ohio. The business already has more than 100 MW of clean energy in this state, with this addition. At the time of this writing, MARA has 1.8 GW of potential capacity across various stages of development and operation in the United States.

Sustainability and employment

The business has made environmental sustainability a top objective as it expands its operations. Since renewable energy sources like solar and wind power can be used to power Bitcoin mining operations, MARA is committed to using these sources. In fact, the business has agreements in place to get more than 800 MW of renewable energy from a variety of sources.

MARA also puts a focus on producing employment opportunities in the communities where it runs. The business estimates that the construction of its solar farms in Ohio has created roughly 2,000 jobs. Moreover, MARA regularly hires employees for jobs including operations, maintenance, and security at its mining facilities.

The business has made substantial investments in the state of Ohio through its operations. This investment has not only created employment opportunities and supported the local economy, but it has also contributed to the state's transition to more environmentally friendly energy sources.
