Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister has been named the 2022 AASA National Superintendent of the Year. The award, presented by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), recognizes outstanding leadership and innovation in the field of education.
Hofmeister has served as Oklahoma's State Superintendent since 2015. During her tenure, she has led the state's efforts to improve student outcomes, close achievement gaps, and increase access to high-quality education for all students.
"I am honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award," said Hofmeister. "It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, students, and communities across Oklahoma. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of our children."

Hofmeister is the first Oklahoma educator to receive the AASA National Superintendent of the Year award. She will be honored at the AASA National Conference on Education in February 2023.
The AASA National Superintendent of the Year award is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of education. Past recipients include former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and former New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein.
