Police Shoot Man Sought in Amber Alert After Chase Ends in Medina Township

Medina, Ohio - Police have shot and killed a man who was the subject of an Amber Alert after a chase from Brunswick on I-71 ended in Medina Township.
The man, identified as 32-year-old William Johnson, was wanted in connection with the abduction of his 2-year-old daughter, Emma Johnson.
Chase Ends in Deadly Confrontation
The chase began in Brunswick around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night after police received a report of a domestic disturbance.
Officers attempted to stop Johnson's vehicle, but he fled, leading police on a high-speed chase down I-71.
The chase ended in Medina Township when Johnson's vehicle crashed. Police approached the vehicle and ordered Johnson to surrender, but he allegedly reached for a weapon.
Officers fired shots, striking Johnson multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Amber Alert Issued
An Amber Alert was issued for Emma Johnson after she was taken from her mother's home in Brunswick.
Police believe Johnson abducted his daughter during the domestic disturbance.
Emma Johnson was found safe in the vehicle after the chase ended.
Investigation Ongoing
The Medina County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been called in to assist with the investigation.
