Who is Richard Allen?
Richard Matthew Allen is a former CVS employee who was arrested in October 2022 for the murders of Abigail Williams and Liberty German in 2017. He was convicted on March 3, 2023, and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 65 years.
The Murders
On February 13, 2017, Abigail Williams and Liberty German were hiking on a trail near Delphi, Indiana, when they disappeared. Their bodies were found the next day in a wooded area near the trail.
The investigation into the murders was one of the largest in Indiana history. Police received over 30,000 tips and conducted hundreds of interviews.
The Arrest
Allen was arrested on October 26, 2022, after police linked his DNA to the crime scene. He was charged with two counts of murder and one count of child molesting.
Allen pleaded not guilty to the charges. His trial began on January 23, 2023, and lasted for three weeks.
The Trial
The prosecution presented evidence that placed Allen at the scene of the crime. This evidence included DNA evidence, cell phone records, and witness testimony.
