Selina Kyle? 'The Penguin's 'Batman 2' Tease Could Pull From A Forgotten Comic Book Sequel

The Court of Owls, Hush, and the mysterious Arkham Knight were among 'The Batman's villains, but who will menace Robert Pattinson next?

The Penguin, played by Colin Farrell, has been confirmed to return in the upcoming 'Batman' sequel, and a new tease from the actor suggests that the film could take inspiration from a forgotten comic book sequel.

In a recent interview with Variety, Farrell said that he had been reading 'Batman: The Long Halloween' in preparation for his role in 'The Batman 2'. The comic book, which was written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Tim Sale, tells the story of Batman's investigation into a series of murders that are taking place on holidays.

Farrell said that he was particularly interested in the character of Selina Kyle, who is also known as Catwoman. In 'The Long Halloween', Kyle is a mysterious figure who helps Batman with his investigation.

"I'm fascinated by the Selina Kyle character," Farrell said. "She's such a complex character, and I think there's a lot of potential there to explore her relationship with Batman."

If 'The Batman 2' does take inspiration from 'The Long Halloween', it would be a significant departure from the first film, which was more heavily influenced by 'Batman: Year One'. 'The Long Halloween' is a much darker and more complex story, and it would be interesting to see how Matt Reeves adapts it for the big screen.

Of course, it's also possible that Farrell was simply reading 'The Long Halloween' for his own enjoyment, and that it won't have any influence on 'The Batman 2'. However, the fact that he mentioned the comic book in an interview about the sequel is certainly intriguing.
