Spirit Airlines Cancels Flights to Haiti After Deadly Riots

Spirit Airlines has canceled all flights to Haiti in the wake of deadly riots that have rocked the country.

The airline announced the cancellations on Sunday, February 12, 2023, saying that the safety of its passengers and crew was its top priority.

The riots began on February 7, 2023, after the government announced a fuel price hike. The protests quickly turned violent, with protesters looting and burning businesses and setting up roadblocks.

At least 12 people have been killed in the riots, and dozens more have been injured.

Spirit Airlines is the only U.S. carrier that offers direct flights to Haiti.

The airline said it was working with the U.S. Embassy in Haiti to help its passengers who are stranded in the country.

The U.S. Embassy has issued a travel advisory warning Americans against traveling to Haiti.

The embassy said that the security situation in Haiti is "extremely fluid" and that "violent demonstrations are likely to continue."

The embassy also said that it has limited ability to provide assistance to Americans in Haiti.
