Teenage duo lead police on dramatic chase in stolen car
13-year-old driver and 18-year-old passenger arrested after high-speed pursuit
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - A 13-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man are in custody after leading Milwaukee police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
The chase began around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 18, when officers spotted a stolen Kia Sportage driving erratically near 27th and Capitol.
When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver refused to stop and led them on a chase that reached speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.
The pursuit continued for several minutes before the stolen car crashed into a parked vehicle near 19th and Cherry.
The 13-year-old driver and 18-year-old passenger were taken into custody without incident.
Both suspects are facing charges of fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license.
The 13-year-old driver is also facing a charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
