Utah observances, freebies mark Veterans Day 2022

Gold Star breakfast in St. George

Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the St. George Veterans Center, 935 S. 1500 East. The breakfast is free to Gold Star families and the public is invited.

Veterans Day lunch in Kanab

A free Veterans Day lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Fredonia Community Center, 125 N. Main, in Fredonia, Arizona.

Veterans Day dinner in St. George

A Veterans Day dinner will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Elks Lodge 2422, 220 N. 200 East, in St. George. The dinner is free to all veterans and active-duty military. The public is also invited, with a donation of $10 per person.

'Warrior Spirit' concert in Spring City

The Sanpete County Veterans Coalition will host a free concert titled "Warrior Spirit" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the South Sanpete High School auditorium, 100 W. 300 South, in Spring City. The concert will feature the Utah Valley Symphony joining with the Sanpete County Veterans Chorus, the Sanpete Singers and select high school choirs.

Honoring veterans at the Utah Jazz game

The Utah Jazz will honor veterans and active-duty military during the team's game against the Detroit Pistons at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Vivint Arena, 301 W. South Temple, in Salt Lake City. The Utah Warriors rugby team will honor veterans and active-duty military during their game against the Houston SaberCats at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Zions Bank Stadium, 1555 Rose Park Lane, in Herriman. Veterans and active-duty military can get discounted tickets on the Warriors' website.

Free haircuts for veterans

Great Clips salons across the United States will offer free haircuts to veterans and active-duty military on Friday, Nov. 11. Great Clips is also collecting donations to support the Semper Fi & America's Fund.

Free meals for veterans

Several restaurants across the United States will offer free meals to veterans and active-duty military on Friday, Nov. 11. Some of the participating restaurants include Applebee's, Chili's, Cracker Barrel, Denny's, IHOP, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse and TGI Fridays.
