Veterans Day 2023: A Day to Honor Those Who Served
Annual Parade and Other Events Planned for Monday, November 11
On Monday, November 11, the United States will celebrate Veterans Day, a federal holiday honoring all those who have served in the military. In communities across the country, parades, ceremonies, and other events will be held to express gratitude and recognize the sacrifices made by veterans.
The largest Veterans Day parade in the country will be held in New York City. The parade will step off at 11:00 AM on 5th Avenue and march up to 46th Street. More than 20,000 veterans are expected to participate, along with marching bands, floats, and other units.
Other major Veterans Day parades will be held in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. In addition to parades, many communities will hold ceremonies at local memorials and cemeteries. These ceremonies often include speeches, prayers, and the laying of wreaths.
Other Ways to Honor Veterans on Veterans Day
In addition to attending parades and ceremonies, there are many other ways to honor veterans on Veterans Day. Here are a few ideas:
- Send a thank-you note to a veteran.
- Volunteer at a local VA hospital or homeless shelter.
- Donate to a veterans' charity.
- Fly the American flag.
- Attend a local Veterans Day event.
Veterans Day is a day to remember and honor those who have served our country. By taking the time to participate in Veterans Day events or simply by expressing our gratitude, we can show our appreciation for their service and sacrifice.
