WWII veteran shares tale of enlistment, service

On this Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. One such veteran is Mr. John Smith, a 95-year-old WWII veteran who recently shared his story of enlistment and service.

Mr. Smith was born and raised in a small town in Iowa. He was just 18 years old when he enlisted in the Army in 1943. He was sent to Europe, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Smith was wounded in the battle, but he survived and returned home a hero. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his valor.

After the war, Mr. Smith returned to Iowa and married his sweetheart. They had two children and four grandchildren.

Mr. Smith is a true American hero. His story is a reminder of the sacrifices that our veterans have made for our country.
