'The Voice' Knockouts Kick Off With Austyns Stancil, Christina Eagle and Jack Tankersley

The first set of "Knockouts" on season 22 of NBC's "The Voice" aired on Monday, October 17, 2022, and featured team coaches Gwen Stefani, John Legend, Camila Cabello, and Blake Shelton challenging the 32 artists remaining in the competition.

“The Knockouts” round pairs up two artists from the same team who perform the same song head-to-head in front of the coaches and audience before the coaches decide which singer moves on to the Live Playoffs.

Team Gwen: Austyns Stancil Defeats Christina Eagle

21-year-old Austyns Stancil and 20-year-old Christina Eagle, both from Team Gwen, opened up the Knockouts with a face-off performance of "As Long as You Love Me" by Justin Bieber.

Christina showed off her powerful vocals and range, making great use of her head voice and runs throughout the performance. However, it was Austyns who won over both the coaches and the viewers with a gritty soulful rendition of the song.

Team Legend: Jack Tankersley Advances Over Team Mate Emma Brooke

20-year-old country singer Jack Tankersley represented Team Legend and 27-year-old R&B singer Emma Brooke in a powerful duet of "When You Say Nothing At All" by Keith Whitley.

Emma delivered a beautiful, soulful performance, showcasing her vocal control and range. However, Jack's unique tone, impeccable pitch and raw emotion ultimately won over the coaches, securing his spot in the Live Playoffs.

The Remaining Knockouts

The Knockouts continue on "The Voice" on Monday, October 24, 2022, and Tuesday, October 25, 2022, with the rest of the 32 artists competing for a spot in the Live Playoffs.
