Women's Future Tours Programme (FTP) announced for 2025-29
Blockbuster schedule includes first-ever ICC Women's World Cup in T20I format
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled a blockbuster Women's Future Tours Programme (FTP) for the 2025-29 cycle, which will see a significant increase in the number of matches and the introduction of new tournaments.
The FTP will see the number of women's international matches increase by over 25%, with a total of 336 matches scheduled across all formats.
The highlight of the FTP will be the first-ever ICC Women's World Cup in T20I format, which will be held in India in 2027.
The FTP also includes the following key features:
- The introduction of a new Women's Championship, which will see the top eight teams in the world compete for a place in the ICC Women's World Cup.
- An increase in the number of bilateral series between the top teams, including a new series between Australia and England.
- The introduction of a new global qualification pathway for associate teams, which will give them a chance to qualify for the ICC Women's World Cup.
The ICC's Head of Women's Cricket, Clare Connor, said: "This is a landmark day for women's cricket. The FTP for 2025-29 is the most ambitious and comprehensive schedule we have ever produced."
