Akira Jacobs Scores 20 as Hawaii Cruises Past Life Pacific

Jacobs Leads Balanced Attack as Hawaii Improves to 3-0

HONOLULU, Hawai'i – Akira Jacobs scored a game-high 20 points, one of four Hawaii players in double-figures, as the Rainbow Warriors rolled to a 96-61 victory over Life Pacific University at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center on Wednesday night.

Hawaii never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 6-0 lead and never looking back. The Rainbow Warriors extended their lead to 45-26 at intermission and put the game away with a 23-6 run midway through the second half.

Jacobs, a 6-foot-6 sophomore forward, hit 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Balanced Scoring Effort

Alongside Jacobs, Hawaii received double-digit scoring performances from guard Noel Coleman (16 points), forward Kamaka Hepa (15 points), and guard Justin Webster (13 points).

Coleman, a junior college transfer, made his first start of the season and connected on 6-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-9 from three-point range. Hepa, a 6-foot-9 senior, was 6-of-9 from the field and added five rebounds and two blocks.

Webster, a senior guard, was 5-of-11 from the field and added four assists and three steals. He also drew a charge late in the second half that led to a three-point play for Jacobs.

Strong Defensive Performance

In addition to their balanced scoring attack, the Rainbow Warriors also played solid defense, holding Life Pacific to just 35.1% shooting from the field and forcing 19 turnovers.

Hawaii's defense was particularly effective in the second half, limiting the Warriors to just 26.3% shooting from the field and forcing 10 turnovers.

The Rainbow Warriors also dominated the rebounding battle, outrebounding Life Pacific 42-29. Hawaii had 14 offensive rebounds, which led to 19 second-chance points.

Looking Ahead

With the victory, Hawaii improves to 3-0 on the season. The Rainbow Warriors will next host Division II Chaminade University on Saturday, Nov. 12 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

Life Pacific falls to 0-3 with the loss. The Warriors will next play at home against Bethesda University on Saturday, Nov. 12.
