'Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field': Daren Sammy tears into Alzarri Joseph after walking off pitch
Former West Indies captain unhappy with Alzarri Joseph's actions
Former West Indies captain Daren Sammy has criticized Alzarri Joseph for walking off the pitch after being dismissed in the Regional Super50 match between Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions. Sammy, who is now the head coach of the St Lucia Kings, said that such behavior is unacceptable on his cricket field.
Sammy's comments come after Joseph was dismissed for 16 off 27 balls in the match. The right-hander was caught at short fine leg by Rovman Powell off the bowling of Sheldon Cottrell.
Joseph was visibly upset with the decision and walked off the pitch without shaking hands with the bowler or the umpire. Sammy was not impressed with Joseph's actions and said that he needs to learn to accept decisions and show more respect for the game.
"I think it's important for players to respect the game and the umpires. Alzarri is a young player and he needs to learn to accept decisions and show more respect for the game," Sammy said.
"Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field," he added.
Sammy's comments come at a time when there has been a lot of debate about the behavior of players on the field. Some former players have called for more respect to be shown to the umpires, while others have said that players are under too much pressure.
It remains to be seen if Joseph will face any disciplinary action for his actions. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has not yet commented on the incident.
