Snow Canyon State Park to dedicate Southern Utah's largest American flag on Veterans Day

Southern Utah's largest American flag will soon fly high over Snow Canyon State Park.

A new flagpole has been constructed at the park's campground, and the flag will be dedicated on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, 2023.

The flag is 30 feet by 50 feet and weighs over 400 pounds. It is the largest American flag in Southern Utah.

The flag was purchased with donations from the community. The Snow Canyon State Park Foundation raised $25,000 to purchase the flag, and the Utah Department of Natural Resources kicked in an additional $5,000.

The flagpole was donated by the Sorenson Legacy Foundation. The foundation also donated $25,000 to help with the project.

The flag will be flown 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will be illuminated at night.

The flag dedication ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Veterans Day. The ceremony will include a color guard, a flyover, and a speech by a local veteran.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
