Mitchell Leads Cavs to Victory
Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 119-113 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, scoring 36 points, including the game-winning jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining.
The win was the Cavs' 12th straight, extending their lead in the Eastern Conference to 3.5 games over the Brooklyn Nets.
Bulls Make Late Push
The Bulls led by as many as 13 points in the first half, but the Cavs rallied to tie the game at 54-54 at halftime.
The game remained close throughout the second half, with neither team able to build a significant lead.
The Bulls tied the game at 113-113 with 26.3 seconds remaining on a three-pointer by DeMar DeRozan.
Mitchell's Heroics
Mitchell then took over, driving to the basket and drawing a foul on Alex Caruso.
Mitchell made both free throws to give the Cavs a 115-113 lead with 18.6 seconds remaining.
The Bulls had a chance to tie the game, but DeRozan's three-point attempt rimmed out.
Mitchell then grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Caruso.
Mitchell made one of two free throws to give the Cavs a 116-113 lead with 1.3 seconds remaining.
The Bulls' Zach LaVine then missed a three-pointer at the buzzer, sealing the victory for the Cavs.
Mitchell's Big Night
Mitchell's 36 points were a game-high, and he also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He was 12-of-24 from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range.
It was Mitchell's second straight game with at least 30 points, and his eighth game with at least 25 points this season.
Cavs Extend Win Streak
The Cavs have now won 12 straight games, their longest winning streak since the 2017-18 season.
The Cavs are now 24-12 this season, the best record in the Eastern Conference.
They will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
