Service Members Honored at Mayor-President's Annual Veterans Breakfast Ahead of Veterans Day

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and community leaders gathered Friday at Raising Cane's River Center to honor local veterans and active-duty service members at the 12th annual Mayor-President's Veterans Breakfast.

The event was hosted by the Mayor’s Armed Services Commission and Raising Cane's, and it featured inspiring words from local leaders and a special performance by the Istrouma High School Band.

Mayor-President Broome expressed her gratitude for the sacrifices made by veterans and their families.

"Today, we honor those who have served our country with valor and distinction," Broome said. "We are eternally grateful for your service and sacrifice."

Keynote speaker Major General Ronald L. Bailey, Adjutant General of the Louisiana National Guard, emphasized the importance of supporting veterans after their service.

"We must never forget the sacrifices made by our veterans," Bailey said. "We must continue to support them and their families as they transition back to civilian life."

The breakfast also included the presentation of the Mayor's Armed Services Commission's annual awards, which recognize outstanding service and contributions to the veteran community.
