Toronto students interview veterans ahead of Remembrance Day
Students at Toronto's École Secondaire Étienne–Brûlé are interviewing veterans ahead of Remembrance Day to learn about their experiences and the importance of remembering their service.
The students are part of the school's history club, and they have been working on the project for several months. They have interviewed veterans from all over the city, including those who served in the Second World War, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
The students say they have been inspired by the veterans' stories.
"It's been really amazing to hear their stories firsthand," said Grade 12 student Sarah Smith. "They've all been through so much, and they have so much to share."
The students' project is part of a larger effort at the school to commemorate Remembrance Day. The school will be holding a special assembly on November 11th, and the students will be sharing their interviews with the rest of the student body.
The students hope that their project will help to raise awareness about the importance of Remembrance Day.
"We want people to remember the sacrifices that our veterans have made," said Grade 11 student John Doe. "We want to make sure that their stories are never forgotten."
The students' project is a valuable way to learn about the history of Remembrance Day and the importance of honoring our veterans. Their work will help to ensure that the sacrifices of our veterans are never forgotten.
Here are some additional details about the students' project:
- The students have interviewed over 20 veterans so far.
- The students have recorded the interviews and transcribed them.
- The students are using the interviews to create a documentary film about Remembrance Day.
- The students are also creating a website where they will share the interviews and the documentary film.
The students' project is a commendable effort to raise awareness about the importance of Remembrance Day. Their work will help to ensure that the sacrifices of our veterans are never forgotten.
